She is thought to have made the key contributions to the invention of a working cotton gin. She is a woman about whom there still is a bit of controversy. How much help did she give to Eli Whitney when the cotton gin was invented? We may never know, but apparently she suggested the idea and helped with the design. Eli Whitney later patented the device.
